MAY 28, 2018 – The world premiere of River of Gold in German/Deutsch took place a cinema in Bern, Switzerland.

Post-screening, a prestigious and knowledgable panel discussed the film, engaged in spirited Q & A, and allies of Amazon Aid’s mission were there to lend their support and discuss collaboration ideas.

This screening in Bern was a prelude to a screening in Geneva at the UN (June 5, 2018).

From a Facebook post from Société pour les peuples menacés Suisse – SPM (Society for Threatened Peoples):

Last night we saw the very emotional and informative documentary River of Gold. using the example of the madre de Dios region – which is also the subject of our recently published report – the film shows the frightening effects of the rush To Gold. After the screening, a discussion was held on what to do against the illicit exploitation of gold and the role of Switzerland in this area.

” voluntary measures are not enough. Switzerland must shoulder its responsibilities, create binding laws and develop solutions with those directly involved “, said Lisa Mazzone, the new president of Society for Threatened Peoples.

All the experts at the round table agreed that the initiative for responsible multinational companies would be a first step in the right direction.
