The Guardian has published a fascinating article documenting the sounds of natural areas before and after they were disturbed.  Bernie Krause-a musician and naturalist-has spent over 40 years recording the sounds of some of the most pristine environments in the world.   Within this article, the recordings of intact habitats are contrasted with recordings of disturbed habitats, and the results are devastating.  “Such is the rate of species and habitat loss that his tapes may become our only record of the original diversity of life.”
