About Adrian Tejedor

Adrian Tejedor is a Cuban biologist and artist living and working in Peru at two crossroads: science/art and the Andes/Amazon interface. He earned a Ph.D. in biology from the City University of New York and the American Museum of Natural History. His art education began in Cuba in elementary and secondary school, was furthered at the University of Miami and the American Museum of Natural History, and continues every day. As a biologist, he has investigated the biogeography of bats in the New World tropics, and has directed the science program of the Amazon Conservation Association and its research stations in the Peruvian Andes and Amazon. As an artist, he has illustrated animals for several scientific and popular publications, including technical papers, a field guide for bats of North America, and a mammal book for children. Currently, he plans to create a network of nature trails from Andean glaciers to lowland rainforest, using the visual arts as a vehicle to inspire and inform the public about habitat and wildlife conservation.
